Watercolor… Cabin Run Covered Bridge, built 1871, crosses the Cabin Run Creek in Plumstead Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This Town lattice truss bridge is 82-feet long and contains a few, rather interesting and not completely common details, that I have not found all together on any one Bucks County Bridge previously. Each of the portal ends have an unusual outward flair at the eves, similar to a slight dog bone in shape and the vertical, white painted, side entry boards are angled inward utilizing a chamfered shape. Additionally, the red, exterior sidewalls carry a pair of flared caps at each corner, over top the double stepped, stone abutment work. This is another Davis Sutton designed bridge. Cabin Run Covered Bridge was entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
