Cape Ray Light – NL

Watercolor… The first Cape Ray lighthouse, a wooden tower built on a barren high point of land along the southwest coast of Newfoundland… at the island’s lower passage between the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the North Atlantic in 1871… burned down in 1885. A second wooden tower was built and it burned in 1958. The third and current lighthouse, a concrete octagon tower, was built in 1959-1960. The red stripe was added to the structure in 1998… from our 2012 road trip across Labrador and Newfoundland.
