Watercolor… a quick watercolor sketch… this low nose Electro Motive Division GP30, was built for the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) in 1963. It remained active through the Penn Central (PC) merger in 1968 and in 1976, became a part of the CONRAIL (CR) consolidation… continuing to work in revenue service until 1984. It then moved to the West Shore Railroad (WTSE) in 1985, pulling tourist & rail fan excursions. In 1998, #2233 was acquired by the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and restored to its CONRAIL Premiere Blue colors by Norfolk Southern (NS) in their Altoona, Pennsylvania shops. I painted this at the museum, (… is it still plein air, if painted indoors?) October, 2017.
