St. Charles Streetcar: 962

Watercolor… Into the Garden District. NOLA… and St. Charles Streetcar #962. Joyce & I rode these streetcars on our 2011 road trip… hopped off to visit the Lafayette Cemetery… and then crossed the street to the Commander’s PalaceĀ for an incredible meal. The New Orleans Rail Transit Authority (RTA) operates three streetcar lines in New Orleans… Canal Street, The River Front and St. Charles Avenue… ok, four if you count the more modern Loyola/ UPT Line. The St. Charles Avenue Line is the oldest…and has been in continuous operation since 1893. The St. Charles line runs these older, green streetcars… as illustrated… which are original Perley Thomas 900-series trolley cars from the mid 1920s. There is one red, Perley Thomas car on the Riverfront Line, three Australian Melbourne W-2 cars… and the rest are more recent, vintage reproduction cars, as are all the Canal Streetcars.
