Watercolor… Maine. The original light on Pemaquid Point was built in 1827, but was so poorly constructed and deteriorated so quickly, that it had to be replaced in less than 10 years… and in 1835 a new tower was constructed of a much higher quality concrete. The light keeper’s house was built in 1857. The entire facility sits over top of an absolutely massive rock formation of incredibly diverse, veined and patterned granite. This is from our 2012 road trip, a late afternoon in July.
