Watercolor… Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick, Canada. I came upon this covered bridge during a 2016 road trip and know very little about it. Originally built in either 1905 or 1908, the Sawmill Covered Bridge, a 104 foot, Howe Truss design, carried what is now Route 114, across Sawmill Creek in Albert County, New Brunswick. A small plaque informs that it was destroyed during a flood at one time… I do not know what remains of the original structure, although… what remains, looks quite old. Sawmill Creek Bridge was moved downstream in the late Sixties or early Seventies, to accommodate the construction of a more modern and wider, concrete replacement span. The Sawmill Bridge is closed to vehicular traffic and now part of the “Trans Canada Trail”.
