Watercolor… There are two of these nearly identical lights aligned at Warren Cove… Port-la-Joye – Fort Amherst. The alignment of two range lights is a very common practice on Prince Edward Island. The forward light is near the water’s edge and this rear light is located approximately 1,100 feet behind it and further up a hill. The only really discernible difference that I saw between the two is that the forward light has a small set of steps arranged perpendicular to the entry door and the steps on this rear light are turned 90 degrees to one side. Each of the 30-foot tall, wooden clapboard towers were established around 1907. In practice… when these two lights are aligned, one above the other in view, a vessel is on the correct course in or out of Charlotte Harbour.
